The Knights of Merlin
I am excited to announce my first Substack exclusive series that I will soon be releasing episodes for as they are completed. The series follows the adventures of a ragtag band of retro past heroes, assembled by the wizard Merlin.
But it wouldn’t be total shock. Without a twist. Over the ages … the immortal wizard of Arthurian lore has become a drunk and a junkie, so he can’t use his powers. And is not very much help to his ragtag band.
In the first few episodes I will be introducing you to the cast of this series in mostly self-contained one-off adventures that focus on one hero per story. Starting with Tess Campbell the 12 Gauge Babe. A shotgun toting occult magazine journalist that gets herself in too deep with a cult serving the wicked enchantress Morgana. Known more commonly as Morgan Le Fay. In legend.
This series will pit my supernatural empowered Justice League of the weird against the forces of the dark occult, and Morgana’s cabal of evil … The Jade Dragon Society.
I am going to include a brief excerpt of what I have written so far just show you a bit of what you can expect from this heroic fantasy action survival horror series inspired by the Bruce Timmverse Justice League cartoon of the early 2000s. Restack as you will.

His limbs and appendages. Like hands, and feet, and fingers, and toes. Cosmic alien creatures of weird origin. Born from the dreaded Realm of Eldritch. The terrible place … where born are the many soldiers that serve Cthulhu in his pursuit to retake the planet once ruled by him and him alone. But now plagued by pesky little beings. The humans.
An unending war for the sake of humanity is being fought by postmodern mythical heroes like Tess Campbell. The 12 Gauge Babe. This is the origin of her fight against the nefarious forces of Morgana the high priestess of the Jade Dragon Society and how she gets recruited by Merlin to fight evil. Expect badass shotgun blasts, and weird creatures from the deep. The Knights of Merlin are being assembled.

Tess Campbell is a writer for Weird Occult magazine. A publication that pursues stories about instances involving the real-life occult. Bizarre circumstances beyond reasonable explanation. Treating such accounts as if they are verifiable news stories. It’s a very popular publication and is owned by a rich kid that inherited a bunch of money from his dead parents so there’s plenty of funding that gets poured into the advertising. Even ordinary people that don’t have much interest in the occult often snatch up the latest issue from the newsstands, or at the front checkout, in grocery stores. Tess is one of their most popular field reporters, and writers for the publication. She’s their number one star. Going after some very strange stories that have made many readers question their own belief in the forces of the supernatural, and cryptids.
The publication is also known for publishing conspiracy theory material, and leaked government files. UFO abduction accounts are one of their running sections in the magazine. Tess has talked to many farmers that claim their cows were abducted by flying saucers in front of their own eyes.
Her current assignment has resulted in her driving a few hundred miles into the dreary landscape of New England. To the countryside township of Redlam. A little hamlet situated to the west of the urban center of Algernon that’s situated along the coast.
The car is like her second home. A simple four door black sedan she uses for driving between states to get to her assignments. Most of which are in these middle of the nowhere towns that time forgot … like Redlam. A sleepy little hamlet.
Tess has short black hair she just hacks off with scissors, so she doesn’t have to deal with it. She has a very pretty face. In spite of how much she avoids using makeup or trying to look attractive. Men constantly hit on her anyway. Her fashion choices optimize comfort over anything else mainly loose-fitting pants, or a pair of jeans and t-shirts, and a jacket, and sneakers. Her eyes are green like dazzling emeralds. A glint of curiosity and strong intellect present in them …
